What’s FSC doing about the Climate Emergency? The simple answer is that we are doing lots. The new strategy has sustainability at its heart, and we need to practice what we teach. The food we serve has a big carbon footprint, so making changes will pay a big part in reducing FSC’s environmental impact.

This week a Head Office monthly staff meeting and short East group Education training session focused on the Nature Friendly Schools (NFS) project giving those in attendance the opportunity to take part in a short outdoor session, focused on positive wellbeing outcomes.

Following the board of trustees meeting yesterday on Thursday 4th July, the trustees have unanimously declared a climate emergency and set out the organisation’s ambitions to hit significant carbon reduction targets by early next year.

FSC Rhyd-y-creuau have been working on a project called the ‘Wellbeing Walkway’. The official start of construction was on the 21st January 2019 and the video in this post shows one-month progress of work being done to create the Wellbeing Walkway.

420 trees of 11 different species were delivered to FSC Millport by the Woodland Trust and planted in the surrounding grounds. The trees ranging from oaks to holly’s, aim to improve the air quality and the environment for everyone.

FSC partners up with Ecotricity, the world’s first green electricity company. The green electricity supplied is sourced from the wind, the sun and the sea, and the green gas is made from organic material and, soon, grass.
