Despite disruptions to education over the last year the Nature Friendly Schools project has worked with 90 schools, enabling 16,000 pupils to benefit from learning in nature, training 500 teachers in outdoor learning and supporting pupil’s mental health – and transforming 30 school grounds.

In August, FSC tutor Christina Sinclair mentored two students from London universities for a three-week virtual placement which is able to take place due to the Sheina Marshall Fund.

A new programme of professional learning will help educators in the Tayside region make connections between nature settings, Outdoor Learning approaches, and STEM subjects. FSC Scotland and the John Muir Trust will be jointly delivering practical and online training to promote the idea of ‘STEM by Nature’.
