FSC was pleased to welcome Sam Karuhanga as Director of Finance and Business Administration who joined us at Head Office on Monday.

Sam has worked in the Charity sector for over 28 years and has a wealth of experience in finance. Sam joined us from Depaul UK, a youth homelessness charity providing emergency accommodation and supported housing to help people rebuild their lives, where he was Director of Finance and Resources for nearly 5 years. Prior to this he was Head of Finance and Corporate Services at Trust Thamesmead for 8 years and Director of Finance and Resources at Refugee Arrivals Project, an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provided humanitarian assistance and support services to newly arrived refugees.

Sam is currently concluding his 7 year tenure as a member of the Independent Audit and Oversight Committee of the United Nations’ High Commission for Refugees; having served as Chair of the Committee for 2 of the 7 years.

Sam is looking forward to settling in at the FSC and hopes to make a useful contribution. He has joined us in the countryside from living in London for a long time and said that not only is he starting a new job but is also getting used to his new life here.

“I hope to make the FSC a more robust and sustainable charity in the long term and looking forward to 5 years-time I hope that I will have helped make FSC stronger than when I first joined.”
