Caterham High School recently celebrated their 30th visit to FSC Rhyd-y-creuau in North Wales. Geography students from the school have benefitted from residential fieldwork in the stunning surroundings of the Snowdonia National Park since the late 1980’s. To celebrate, Edwina Bullock from the catering team at FSC Rhyd-y-creuau baked them a 30th visit celebratory cake!

“The FSC has provided fantastic opportunities for our students to experience the wonder and beauty of the Welsh countryside whilst focusing on new skills and knowledge that they need for their studies. We have had 30 years of fantastic trips to Rhyd-y-creuau. Like the FSC, we value the experiences that students gain from residential trips – they always return brimming with enthusiasm, recognising the value the opportunity they have had.” Ms B Chapple, Head Teacher at Caterham School

“North Wales offers these students a completely contrasting environment to study and visit. A residential experience at this age benefits not only their GCSE study, but also their confidence, resilience and life skills.” Andy Taylor, Head of Centre at Rhyd-y-creuau
